One often-overlooked aspect of seasonal wellness is chiropractic care. While many people associate chiropractic adjustments with back pain, they offer a wide range of benefits, especially during the cooler months.
Â

Why Chiropractic Care Matters in Fall and Winter

Boosting Immunity: Chiropractic adjustments can help improve your body's overall function, including your immune system. By ensuring proper alignment of your spine and nervous system, chiropractors can help your body better regulate its immune response, making you less susceptible to colds and flu.
Â

Reducing Stress: The changing seasons can bring about stress and anxiety. Chiropractic care can help reduce stress by improving your body's ability to adapt to changes. This can lead to better sleep, mood, and overall well-being.
Â

Improving Circulation: As the weather cools, our bodies may tend to slow down. Chiropractic adjustments can help improve circulation by ensuring that your nervous system is functioning optimally. Chiropractic care can help alleviate joint pain by improving range of motion and reducing inflammation.

Â

How Chiropractic Adjustments Can Help You Stay Healthy

Regular adjustments: Consistent chiropractic care can help maintain optimal spinal alignment and nervous system function throughout the year.
Â

Lifestyle advice: Your chiropractor can provide personalized advice on exercise, nutrition, and stress management to support your overall health.
Â

Addressing underlying issues: Chiropractic care can help identify and address underlying health conditions that may contribute to seasonal discomfort.

By incorporating chiropractic care into your seasonal wellness routine, you can help your body stay strong, healthy, and resilient during the cooler months.

To schedule your fall appointment and continue your journey toward optimal health, call us at 928-772-4044 and we will get you right in. Here at Adjust to Health, we want to help you beat the heat and keep your body aligned, even during the hottest days.

Staying Cool Indoors

Hydration is Key:
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Aim for clear fluids and avoid sugary drinks or excessive amounts of caffeine, which can dehydrate you.

Dress for Comfort:
Loose, breathable clothing made from natural fibers like cotton will help regulate your body temperature.

Make Your Space an Oasis:
Close curtains and blinds during the hottest part of the day to block sunlight. If you don't have air conditioning, consider using fans strategically to create airflow. Create a cool zone in your basement if you have one, as cool air settles.

Take a Cool Shower:
A refreshing shower or bath can quickly lower your body temperature.

Â

Beating the Heat Outdoors

Schedule Wisely:
If possible, plan outdoor activities for the early morning or evening hours when temperatures are cooler.

Sun Safety:
Protect yourself from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and, if possible, use sunscreen for sensitive skin as it tends to be less troubling to most skins. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more often if sweating or swimming.

Seek Shade:
Whenever possible, stay in the shade, especially during peak heat hours. Look for natural shade from trees or umbrellas.

Dress Strategically:
Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that covers your arms and legs. Light-colored clothing reflects heat, while dark colors absorb it. Although you might think that a sleeveless top or shirt would be cooler, the more skin exposed to the sun the hotter you will be.

Listen to Your Body:
Pay attention to how you're feeling. If you experience dizziness, headache, nausea, or muscle cramps, get out of the heat immediately and cool down.

Â

Chiropractic Care for Heatwave Recovery

Even with the best precautions, heat stress can lead to muscle aches, tension, and fatigue. Chiropractic adjustments can help by:

Improving Joint Mobility:
Heat can tighten muscles and restrict joint movement. Adjustments can help restore proper alignment and range of motion.

Reducing Muscle Tension:
Heat exhaustion can lead to muscle tension and spasms. Chiropractic care can help alleviate these symptoms and promote relaxation.

Promoting Overall Well-being:
Regular chiropractic adjustments can improve your body's ability to adapt to stress, including heat stress.

By following these tips and staying hydrated, you can stay cool and comfortable during a heatwave. If you're experiencing aches and pains after being in the heat, chiropractic care can help your body recover and get back to feeling its best.

Be Mindful: If you experience any symptoms of heatstroke, such as confusion, rapid heartbeat, or loss of consciousness, seek medical attention immediately.

Stay safe and beat the heat!

Dr. Jan
Adjust to Health Chiropractic
Tips for Conquering Spring Cleaning Everyday Tasks Without Back Pain http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2024/05/20/tips-for-conquering-spring-cleaning-everyday-tasks-without-back-pain/ Mon, 20 May 2024 15:47:31 -0400
Many of us take for granted the simple act of bending down to pick up a box, reaching for a book on a high shelf, or squatting to pull weeds in the garden. However, these everyday activities can put a surprising amount of strain on our bodies, particularly our spines. Here at Adjust to Health Chiropractic, we want to empower you to move with confidence and prevent potential back pain. These guides provide you with expert tips on proper lifting techniques, safe gardening practices, and effective body mechanics for cleaning tasks.

Lifting Techniques:

Plan the lift: Before lifting, assess the box's weight and size. If it's too heavy, don't hesitate to ask for help or use a lifting tool.

Posture is key: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, core engaged, and maintain a neutral spine (avoid arching the back).

Squat, don't bend: Bend at the knees and hips as if squatting to grab the box. Keep your back straight and lift with your legs, using your leg muscles for power.

Keep it close: Hold the box close to your body throughout the lift, ideally at belly button level. This minimizes strain on your back.

Lift smoothly: Avoid jerking motions. Slowly and steadily lift the box, straightening your legs to come to a standing position.

Pivot, don't twist: When carrying the box, turn your entire body to avoid twisting at the waist. This can stress your spine.

Gardening:

Bend from the knees: Similar to lifting, squat down to reach the ground, keeping your back straight and core engaged.

Use tools wisely: Utilize long-handled tools to reduce bending and strain on your back.

Vary your tasks: Take breaks and alternate between tasks to avoid repetitive motions that can lead to fatigue and injury.

General Cleaning:

Lift with your legs: Apply the squatting technique for lifting cleaning supplies, buckets, or vacuum cleaners.

Use proper equipment: Consider a step stool for reaching high shelves instead of stretching on tiptoe, which can strain your back.

Lighten the load: Empty heavy buckets partially before lifting or carrying them.

Listen to your body: Pay attention to any pain signals. Take breaks and adjust your technique if you experience discomfort.

By incorporating these tips and consulting your chiropractor for personalized guidance, you can perform everyday tasks safely and prevent potential injuries.
What Do You Love, Truly? A February Exploration of Self-Care and Connection http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2024/02/13/what-do-you-love-truly-a-february-exploration-of-selfcare-and-connection/ Tue, 13 Feb 2024 09:43:06 -0500
February, draped in hearts and whispers of romance, often prompts us to think about love outwardly. Chocolates are exchanged, roses bloom, and grand gestures take center stage. But what about the love within? This month, let's turn the spotlight inward and ask: what do you enjoy doing in life?

Forget societal expectations and societal pressures. What ignites your soul, sparks your passion, and brings a genuine smile to your face?

Perhaps it's the:

quiet solace of a favorite book

thrill of a new adventure

comfort of spending time with loved ones.

creativity that flows through your fingertips

sense of purpose you find in helping others.

Â

Whatever it is, you are worth pursuing it!

Let's explore a few more ideas.

Â

Self-Care: The Foundation of True Love

Just like a magnificent garden needs fertile soil and regular tending, the things you love thrive on self-care. This isn't about bubble baths and spa days (though those are lovely too!). It's about **prioritizing your well-being** in ways that nourish your mind, body, and spirit.

Listen to your body's messages. Fuel your system with nourishing foods that energize you, not deplete you. Prioritize sleep and create a relaxing bedtime routine. These seemingly small acts pave the way for a more vibrant, fulfilling you.

Â

Connection: The Fertilizer of Love

Human beings are social creatures. We crave connection, the sense of belonging, and the joy of shared experiences. This February, nurture the connections that you enjoy the most. Spend time with loved ones who uplift and support you. Reach out to friends you haven't spoken to in a while. Explore new communities that align with your interests. Remember, genuine connections are not burdens, but sources of strength and inspiration.

Â

Boundaries: Protecting Your Precious Garden

Just like a gardener protects their delicate blooms from harsh weather, it's crucial to set healthy boundaries to safeguard the things you love. Learn to say no to commitments that drain your energy. Limit exposure to negativity and prioritize interactions that leave you feeling good. Remember, setting boundaries isn't selfish; it's essential for preserving your capacity to love and share yourself authentically.

Â

This February, embark on a journey of self-discovery

Explore what truly speaks to you. Nourish it with self-care, cultivate meaningful connections, and protect your precious garden with healthy boundaries. Remember, the love you share with others begins with the love you cultivate within yourself.

So, what do you love?

Let this month be a reminder to find those things and simply do them. This can happen through sweating, urination, vomiting, diarrhea, or other means. When you're dehydrated, your body doesn't have enough fluids to function properly. This can lead to a variety of problems. If you experience any of the following symptoms of dehydration, seek medical attention immediately:

Fatigue

Headache

Dizziness

Muscle cramps

Confusion

Dry mouth

Dark urine

Rapid heartbeat

Low blood pressure

And even heat stroke

Dehydration in Hot Weather

The risk of dehydration is especially high in hot weather, regardless of the climate. However, the risk is higher in dry climates than in humid climates. This is because dry air doesn't hold as much moisture as humid air, so your body loses more fluids through sweating in dry climates. To stay hydrated in hot weather, it's important to drink even more fluids than usual. You should also avoid strenuous activity in hot weather, and take breaks to cool down if you do need to be active.

In a humid climate, the air is already saturated with moisture, so your sweat doesn't evaporate as quickly. This means that you don't lose as much fluid through sweating. However, you can still become dehydrated in humid climates, especially if you're exercising or working in hot, humid conditions.

Physiological Effects

According to research findings in Nutrition Reviews, dehydration has been shown to have numerous physiological effects. Examples include:

Cognitive performance

Mild dehydration can affect mood and cognitive function, particularly in young, old, hot climate, and individuals who exercise. It may impact aspects like concentration, memory, and alertness, however the effects are inconsistent across studies. Reintroducing fluids in mildly dehydrated individuals might improve alertness, while the impact on cognitive performance is variable. However, relatively little is known about the mechanism of mild dehydration's effects on mental performance. It has been proposed that mild dehydration acts as a physiological stressor that competes with and draws attention from cognitive processes.

Physical performance

Hydration's role in physical performance, particularly among athletes and in demanding conditions, is well-studied. Even slight dehydration of around 2% can impair endurance, increase fatigue, alter thermoregulation, and reduce motivation. Athletes, especially early in their training, are prone to dehydration risks, and children exercising might face greater dehydration risks due to inadequate recognition of fluid needs.

Gastrointestinal function

Fluid absorption happens primarily in the small intestine, with the gastric emptying rate influencing re-hydration speed. Constipation can be caused by factors like low fluid intake, and increasing fluids helps mainly for those dehydrated. Diarrheal diseases pose risks, especially for children, causing significant water and electrolyte imbalances that can be treated effectively with oral re-hydration therapy.

Kidney function

The kidney plays a vital role in regulating water balance, blood pressure, and waste removal. It maintains plasma osmolality (a test that measures the concentration of all chemical particles found in the fluid part of blood) within a specific range using hormones like arginine vasopressin (AVP) to control urine volume and water retention. The kidney's role extends to filtering waste via urine, with an obligatory urine volume needed for solute removal, and its capacity to concentrate and dilute urine declines with age. Overloading the kidney's output rate with excessive water intake can lead to hyponatremia.

Headaches

Dehydration can trigger headaches, potentially even migraines, and providing relief through water intake is observed. While increased water intake may moderately reduce headache intensity and duration in some cases, its role in preventing headaches, especially in headache sufferers, is less clear and relatively unexplored in medical literature.

Skin

Water is essential for overall health, and it plays a vital role in keeping the skin hydrated and healthy. When the skin is properly hydrated, it looks plumper, smoother, and more radiant. Water helps improve skin elasticity and helps to keep the skin's collagen and elastin fibers strong and elastic.

In addition to drinking water, there are other things you can do to improve your skin complexion, such as:

Eating a healthy diet

Getting enough sleep

Using sunscreen

Avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption

Exfoliating regularly

Using a moisturizer

How Much Water Do You Need?

The amount of water you need to drink each day depends on a number of factors, including your age, activity level, and the climate you are enjoying. However, most experts recommend that adults drink 8 glasses of water per day. This is just a general guideline, and you may need to drink more or less depending on your individual needs.

Tips for Staying Hydrated

There are a few things you can do to stay hydrated throughout the day:

Drink plenty of water.Â
Especially when you're feeling tired or light headed. These can be signs of dehydration. Water is the best choice for hydration, as it doesn't contain any calories or sugar. Keep a water bottle with you at all times.

Set a timer.Â
This will remind you to drink fluids throughout the day.

Drink fluids first thing in the morning.ÂÂ
This will help to re-hydrate your body after a night of sleep and remind you to set your timer.

Avoid sugary drinks.ÂÂ
Sugary drinks can actually dehydrate you, as they can cause your body to produce more urine.

Eat fruits and vegetables.ÂÂ
Many fruits and vegetables are high in water content, such as watermelon, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

Drink fluids before, during, and after meals.ÂÂ
This will help to prevent dehydration caused by sweating during the process of digestion.

Drink fluids before, during, and after exercise.ÂÂ
When you exercise, you lose fluids through sweating. It's important to drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after exercise to prevent dehydration.

Pay attention to your thirst.ÂÂ
Thirst is a good indicator that you're dehydrated. If you're feeling thirsty, drink fluids right away.

Avoid smoking, alcohol and caffeine.ÂÂ
These substances can have a diuretic effect that can lead to dehydration. To stay properly hydrated, it's a good practice to balance your consumption of these substances with an extra intake of water.

Schedule regular chiropractic adjustments!

Chiropractic Adjustments and Hydration.Â

A study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in 2011 found that chiropractic adjustments may help to improve hydration. The study looked at 60 adults who were randomly assigned to receive either real or fake chiropractic adjustments. The participants were then asked to drink a certain amount of water and to measure their urine output.

The results showed that the participants who received chiropractic adjustments had a lower urine output than the participants who received fake adjustments. This suggests that the chiropractic adjustments may have helped to improve the participants' hydration levels.

While it's not fully understood how chiropractic adjustments can help with hydration, it is thought that adjustments may also improve the function of the nervous system, which can help to regulate the body's fluid balance.Â

Here are some other ways chiropractic adjustments may help with hydration:

Improving the alignment of the spine and other joints can help to improve the flow of blood and lymph throughout the body. This can help to deliver more water to the tissues.

Reducing inflammation can also help to improve hydration levels. Inflammation can damage the tissues and make it more difficult for them to absorb water.

Relieving stress can also help with hydration. Stress can lead to dehydration by increasing the production of adrenaline and cortisol, which can promote water loss.

While more research is needed to confirm the benefits of chiropractic adjustments for hydration, the available evidence suggests that adjustments may be a helpful way to improve hydration levels.ÂDehydration is a serious condition that can have a number of negative consequences. By staying hydrated, and getting regular chiropractic adjustments, you can help prevent dehydration and keep your body happy and healthy.
Don't Let the Heat of Summer Catch You Without Water! http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2023/06/20/dont-let-the-heat-of-summer-catch-you-without-water/ Tue, 20 Jun 2023 17:45:45 -0400
As the scorching days of summer approach, it's crucial to prioritize staying hydrated to protect our health and well-being. Water is essential for various bodily functions, including regulating body temperature, lubricating joints, and maintaining organ function. It is especially important to stay hydrated when engaging in outdoor activities or spending prolonged periods in the sun. Adequate hydration is also essential for optimal chiropractic care and ensuring the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments.

Chiropractic adjustments focus on aligning the spine and improving the function of the nervous system. This holistic approach to health care recognizes that the body functions as an interconnected system, with the spine acting as a central hub. However, when the body is dehydrated, it can negatively impact the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments. Water acts as a lubricant for joints and soft tissues, allowing for smoother movements and facilitating adjustments. Dehydration can lead to stiff joints and tight muscles, making it more challenging for chiropractors to manipulate the spine effectively.

Furthermore, promoting health from the inside out is a fundamental principle of chiropractic care. The body's overall well-being depends on various factors, including nutrition, exercise, and hydration. Proper hydration supports the body's natural healing processes, aids in the elimination of toxins, and ensures that vital nutrients are effectively transported to different cells and organs. When the body is dehydrated, it can hinder these processes and compromise the body's ability to heal and function optimally.

What Causes Dehydration?

You may be familiar with the common recommendation to consume eight glasses of water per day. It's a simple guideline to remember and a reasonable objective.ÂMaintaining hydration for most healthy individuals can typically be achieved by drinking water and other fluids in response to thirst. While some people may find that consuming fewer than eight glasses of fluid daily is sufficient, others may require more.

It's important to note that your overall fluid intake may need to be adjusted based on various factors including heat, wind, altitude, and other conditions.ÂHere's a breakdown of how each of these factors can contribute to dehydration:

Heat: High temperatures and excessive sweating can lead to dehydration. When you sweat, your body loses water and electrolytes, which need to be replenished to maintain proper hydration.

Wind: Wind can accelerate the evaporation of moisture from your skin, which can increase the rate of fluid loss and potentially lead to dehydration. Windy conditions can also make you less aware of your body's water needs, as you may not feel as hot or thirsty.

Altitude: At higher altitudes, the air is generally drier, and the lower oxygen levels can cause increased respiration and more rapid breathing. This increased respiratory rate can lead to greater water loss through exhaled air and may contribute to dehydration if adequate fluid intake is not maintained.

Exercise: Physical activity and exercise increase your body's temperature, leading to increased sweating and fluid loss. Engaging in intense or prolonged exercise without proper hydration can quickly deplete your body's water and electrolyte stores.

Illness: Certain illnesses such as fever, diarrhea, and vomiting can cause fluid loss and contribute to dehydration. These conditions increase the body's need for fluids to replenish the lost fluids and prevent dehydration.

Medications: Some medications, such as diuretics, can increase urine output and lead to increased fluid loss. This can potentially result in dehydration if fluid intake is not adjusted accordingly.

It's important to stay hydrated by drinking an adequate amount of fluids, especially during hot weather, windy conditions, high altitudes, exercise, illness, or when taking certain medications. Listening to your body's thirst cues and consuming fluids regularly can help prevent dehydration and maintain proper hydration levels.

Blood Pressure

One important aspect of health affected by dehydration is blood pressure. The body relies on an adequate fluid balance to maintain stable blood pressure levels. When dehydrated, blood volume decreases, causing blood vessels to constrict in an attempt to compensate. This constriction can lead to an increase in blood pressure, potentially placing additional stress on the cardiovascular system. By staying hydrated, individuals can help maintain healthy blood pressure levels, reducing the risk of related health complications.

From Dehydrated to Hydrated

Chiropractic care can provide several benefits when transitioning from a dehydrated state to a hydrated one. Here are a few ways chiropractic adjustments can help in such a scenario:

Spinal Alignment: When the body is dehydrated, it can lead to stiffness and tension in the muscles, including those surrounding the spine. Chiropractic adjustments help restore proper spinal alignment by gently manipulating the vertebrae. This realignment can relieve tension and pressure on nerves, muscles, and other soft tissues. When the body is hydrated, the muscles become more pliable, allowing the chiropractor to perform adjustments more effectively.

Enhanced Mobility: Dehydration can cause joint stiffness and limited range of motion. Chiropractic adjustments can improve joint mobility by reducing restrictions and restoring proper joint function. When the body is hydrated, the joints become more lubricated, allowing for smoother movements. Chiropractic care can address specific areas of restriction and facilitate better overall mobility.

Pain Relief: Dehydration can contribute to muscle cramps, headaches, and general discomfort. Chiropractic adjustments help alleviate pain by addressing the underlying causes. When the body is properly hydrated, muscle spasms and cramps may be reduced, leading to decreased pain levels. Additionally, chiropractic care can help reduce tension and strain in the muscles, relieving headaches and promoting overall comfort.

Improved Nervous System Function: Dehydration can impact the function of the nervous system, affecting communication between the brain and the rest of the body. Chiropractic adjustments focus on optimizing nervous system function by removing interference along the spine. When the body is hydrated, nerve conduction may improve, allowing for more efficient communication between the brain and the body's systems.

Overall Well-being: Chiropractic care emphasizes holistic health and well-being. By restoring proper spinal alignment and optimizing nervous system function, chiropractic adjustments contribute to the body's overall balance and vitality. When the body is hydrated, it operates more efficiently, supporting optimal healing and promoting overall wellness.

It's important to note that while chiropractic care can be beneficial in various scenarios, staying hydrated should be a priority for maintaining overall health and well-being. Hydration supports the body's natural healing processes and ensures proper bodily functions. Chiropractic care can complement a healthy lifestyle, including proper hydration, by promoting spinal health and nervous system function.

The Dry Heat of Arizona

Dry heat can be dehydrating. In dry climates or during dry heat conditions, the lack of humidity in the air can increase the rate of moisture evaporation from your body. When you sweat in dry heat, the sweat evaporates quickly from your skin, and you may not feel as sweaty or perceive the need to rehydrate compared to humid conditions.

However, even though you may not feel as sweaty, your body still loses water through evaporation, leading to dehydration. It's important to note that even in dry heat, your body needs to maintain proper fluid balance for optimal functioning.

To prevent dehydration in dry heat, it's essential to drink an adequate amount of fluids regularly, even if you don't feel as thirsty. It's best to rely on your body's thirst signals as well as the color of your urine (clear or light yellow being a good indicator of proper hydration) to monitor your fluid intake. Additionally, try to avoid excessive exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest times of the day and take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas to minimize the risk of dehydration.

In conclusion, don't let the heat of summer catch you without water. Hydration plays a vital role in supporting overall health and well-being, especially when it comes to chiropractic care. By staying properly hydrated, you can optimize the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments, promote healing from the inside out, and maintain healthy blood pressure levels. So, make sure to drink an adequate amount of water each day, particularly during the summer months, to keep your body functioning at its best and to enjoy the season to the fullest.
Can Chiropractic Adjustments Help Lessen Allergy Symptoms? http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2023/05/03/can-chiropractic-adjustments-help-lessen-allergy-symptoms/ Wed, 03 May 2023 12:30:43 -0400
Your immune system can be affected by a range of factors, including your nerves, hormones, diet, and emotional stress. Allergic reactions to common allergens, such as dander, pollen, and milk, are the most prevalent immune system disorders. However, chiropractors can help improve immune system function by correcting spinal subluxations. If you're struggling with symptoms like itchy eyes, a runny nose, or sneezing, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment with a chiropractor to boost your immune system.
What to do if You Have Wrist Pain or Tingling or Numbness in Your Fingers http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2023/03/08/what-to-do-if-you-have-wrist-pain-or-tingling-or-numbness-in-your-fingers/ Wed, 08 Mar 2023 12:17:47 -0500
You may have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome if these conditions exist:

Tingling or numbness in the fingers, particularly the thumb, index, and middle fingers.

Pain or discomfort in the hand, wrist, or forearm, which may be dull or sharp.

Weakness in the hand, which can make it difficult to perform everyday tasks such as gripping objects or typing.

A sensation of swelling or inflammation in the fingers or hand, even if there is no visible swelling.

Difficulty performing fine motor tasks with the affected hand, such as buttoning clothes or holding small objects.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm to the hand, is compressed as it passes through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it's important to consult with a health care professional for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

However, if youâve already done that, here are some steps you can take if you have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome:

Rest: If your symptoms are mild, rest the affected wrist and avoid activities that may exacerbate your symptoms.

Ice or heat therapy: Applying ice or heat to the affected wrist may help to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.

Wear a brace or splint: Wearing a wrist brace or splint can help to keep the wrist in a neutral position and reduce pressure on the median nerve.

Consider chiropractic care: Chiropractic adjustments may help to improve joint mobility and reduce muscle tension, which may help to alleviate symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Chiropractic adjustments can also help to realign the bones and joints in the wrist and hand, reducing pressure on the median nerve and helping to alleviate symptoms. Adjustments can also help to improve circulation to the affected area, promoting healing and reducing inflammation that may be contributing to the compression of the median nerve. In some cases, carpal tunnel syndrome may be caused by misalignment or dysfunction in the neck, shoulders, or spine. Chiropractic adjustments can help to address these underlying issues, reducing tension and improving overall nerve function. Chiropractic adjustments also offer a drug-free approach to pain relief that can be particularly beneficial for people who may be unable to tolerate or prefer to avoid medication.

Consider physical therapy: Physical therapy may help to alleviate symptoms and improve wrist strength and flexibility.

Over-the-counter pain relievers: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen or naproxen, may help to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.

Surgery: In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to relieve pressure on the median nerve.

It's important to note that carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by a variety of factors, such as repetitive motions, injury, and underlying medical conditions. Therefore, the appropriate treatment plan will depend on the underlying cause and severity of your symptoms. Consult with a qualified health care professional to determine the best course of action for your individual needs.
A Chiropractic Reminder from Dr. Jan http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2022/12/16/a-chiropractic-reminder-from-dr-jan/ Fri, 16 Dec 2022 13:02:39 -0500
A Chiropractic Reminder from Dr. Jan

The greatest gift that Chiropractic can give to humanity is the ability to have a nervous system that functions better than it did before Chiropractic, allowing impulses from the brain to the body and from the body to the brain flow at a very effective pace. We help the nervous system to function better and that allows the body to heal the way it was DESIGNED to. Our body was designed to heal itself however it can't do that without a proper nervous system supporting it.

Adjusting human spines for the reliefÂof human ills has been documented for 200 years before Christ however it has only been called Chiropractic for 115 years. Hippocrates, the Father of Modern Medicine (when doctors graduate from school they take the Hippocratic Oath which basically says; "First, DO NO HARM") said 2000 years ago, "Look well to the spine for the cause and prevention of disease".

The misunderstanding the general population has isÂthat Chiropractic is about fixing kinks in necks and painful low backs. Yet Chiropractors are so much more far reaching than that. Allowing your body to work as it was designed, caring for it as if is the wonderful gift that it is and expressing your innate potential to the highest degree that you can is what Chiropractors are all about.

Thanks for being here with others who understand that the best way to heal is from the inside out and the less interference we put on that process allows for the best health to occur.

All of you are winners in my book!

Dr. Jan Ormsby
Are YOU Playing Chiro-Jenga? http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2022/11/22/are-you-playing-chirojenga/ Tue, 22 Nov 2022 12:29:27 -0500
If Life was a game of Jenga, stress would be the act of sliding out one puzzle piece after another, until your entire âtower of healthâ topples over.

Unexpected car repair bill â slide out a block.

Emergency call from your kidâs school nurse â slide out another one.

Slip end over end on a sheet of black ice â slide out three more.

Before you know it, youâre one stress event away from major "Jenga catastrophe"â that is, unless your Chiropractor reverses the momentum and adjusts those loose blocks back in, restoring stability and integrity to your health.

Stress can cause you to Subluxate (misalign), and its effects are detrimental to your overall health. The manufacturer's instructions warn you to take it slow and easy on your way there. ThoseÂsmall, cheap spare tires aren't designed to withstand the heat and loading of normal driving -- or even less-than-normal driving for extended periods. That grating noise could mean something is out of alignment.

Your spine is made up of movable bones called vertebrae, each joined perfectly together like the links of a bicycle chain. If one or more of these joints become stuck and misaligned it can slowly wreak havoc on the mechanical integrity of your entire spine. The result â pain, stiffness and premature arthritic changes.

Don't neglect the noises. Abnormal grinding (crepitus) of spinal joints may indicate early degenerative joint disease. Remember, unlike a bicycle chain, you can't replace spinal âlinksâ when they get damaged. Get your spine tuned up by a Chiropractor who is thoroughly trained in restoring the normal mechanics of your spine, and protect yourself from premature wear and tear.

Weekly Sticky
Holistic Health Tip: Stop Playing Whack-a-Symptom! http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2022/08/12/holistic-health-tip-stop-playing-whackasymptom/ Fri, 12 Aug 2022 18:16:03 -0400
The object of the carnival game Whack-a-Mole is to use a rubber mallet to hit as many critters as possible when they pop up in random succession. Trouble is, as you hit one mole, three more pop up and disappear before you can nail them all. Whack-a-Mole is a perfect metaphor for how patients get medicated today. Unfortunately in this game you end up on a ton of different drugs, for a bunch of different problems, with no actual improvement in your health.Â

According to Generation Rx, in 2004 the number of prescription drugs used by the average American annually was twelve. Data from FamiliesUSA.com show the average number of prescriptions taken per senior citizen grew from 19.6 in 1992 to 28.5 in 2000, an increase of 45 percent. By 2010 that number is projected to be 38.5. Yet despite taking all these drugs, the US embarrassingly ranks 37th among the world's industrial countries when it comes overall health.Â

In Chiropractic, health is not defined by how many symptoms you can temporarily 'whack away' with drugs, but how well your body can heal and function under its own Power. You have more innate, healing ability in your little finger than all the drugs and hospitals in the world put together. Big Pharma doesn't want you to believe that, but Chiropractic does. If you maintain a clear nerve system, eat right and get enough exercise, you'll stay outÂof their failing whack-a-symptom game.

Why Don't You Usually Hear Drug Commercials on the Radio? http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2022/07/13/why-dont-you-usually-hear-drug-commercials-on-the-radio/ Wed, 13 Jul 2022 12:20:34 -0400
Ever notice that you rarely hear drug commercials on the radio?

The televisionÂis a different story. Seems like every other commercial on TV is for a magic pill to fix your stomachÂproblems, sleep disturbances or allergy issues. And they all end with a fast talkingÂlow voice spurting off multitudes of side effects, while distracting visions of happy people running hand in hand in a field of daisies play over the monologue.

You can't pull off that masquerade on the radio! If you ever HEARD some of the side effects while listening to your car radio, you mightÂjust drive off the road!

The FDAÂhas urged pharmaceutical companies to stop using distracting images and music in their TV drug ads following complaints that manufacturers deliberately used misleading techniques to downplay their products' risks while emphasizing potential benefits. The FDAÂsuggested they use highlights to emphasize documented side effects and slow the pace at which the risks were being read, so viewers could better understand the drug's potential dangers.

We have a better solution!

When a drug commercial begins on TV just close your eyes and LISTEN...just like you wouldÂto a radioÂspot. The side effects with be moreÂapparent (and disturbing) when you're not distracted by the "pretty visuals". Big PharmaÂdoesn't want you to comprehend the multitude of risks associated with taking their drugs. However if you close your eyes and listenÂclosely, you'll learn just how ridiculous, dangerous and deadly their products can be.

The experience could save your life!
What To Eat http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2022/06/07/what-to-eat/ Tue, 07 Jun 2022 12:43:25 -0400
Okay, lets talk about WHAT TO EAT...

Check out this weird statistic: One third of all vegetables consumed in the United States come from just three sources:

French Fries

Potato Chips

Iceberg lettuce!

Dietary research focus' on a single nutrient at a time however single nutrients don't function in isolation in the body. Yet there was absolutely no blueberries or pomegranates in the cereal at all. NONE!

I would highly recommend that you don't listen to the media regarding nutrition information. Get some good books or simply start to read labels. Ingredients are listed on the ingredient label based on the amount present in the food. Ingredients that are the most prevalent are listed first and then lesser used products are listed further down the line.

If the first ingredient is SUGAR, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, ETC, your eating candy.

If the ingredient is difficult to pronounce, it is a chemical at best and probably better outside the system rather then inside. But try this: change a few things.

Ditch sugary cereals for breakfast and eat a whole grain one with a banana and some honey. (If you really love your Cap'n Crunch then have it as a desert).

Try eating more baked potatoes rather then fries.

Learn to fall in love with salads. You can get them in all styles, something for everyone. fruity, savory, you name it! Use romaine not iceberg lettuce. That's a small change that make a big difference.

Grind up veggies and hide them in your spaghetti sauce. Kids won't know and every little bit helps.

Stay on your program of adjustments to ensure that your nervous system is working at top speed to keep you healthy and watch your food intake.

You will love the results!Â
Adjust to Health Social Media Profiles http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2021/09/30/adjust-to-health-social-media-profiles/ Thu, 30 Sep 2021 11:03:22 -0400
Tell others of your wins with Chiropractic.

They need to know!

On Google https://g.page/r/CZLOn8C6BhZ0EAg/review

On Yelp https://www.yelp.com/biz/adjust-to-health-prescott-valley

On Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adjusttohealthaz/reviews/

Innate Intelligence http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2021/09/30/innate-intelligence/ Thu, 30 Sep 2021 11:00:46 -0400
Innate Intelligence: The Bodyâs Super Power

We are all born with an innate intelligence within that allows our bodies to do everything needed to exist. For example: Make your heart beat Keep your lungs breathing Perform your digestion Allow you to have facial expressions Heals skin and bones

This super power checks in on every aspect of your life with one purpose, to maintain order, and no doctor can match itâs wisdom, no pill can sway its resolve. Consider this - 50,000,000 cells in your body that will die while you read this sentence, and since your innate intelligence has solutions to just about any health challenge you have, it knows how to replace every single one of them.

Take it from me, when it comes to your health and your ability to reach your peak potential, trust the innate intelligence that helped build it in the first place. All you have to do is search within to find the answer!

Many times prescription drugs are life saving necessities. Always take note of the side effects and then decide.

Itâs a Test!

If your body made too much stomach acid, should you:

Take drugs to neutralize the acid

Have your spine checked for subluxations affecting nerves to your stomach?

Did You Know That Flu Shots Contain Mercury? http://www.adjusttohealthaz.com/blog/chiropractic-tips/2021/09/30/did-you-know-that-flu-shots-contain-mercury/ Thu, 30 Sep 2021 10:59:58 -0400
That's right, Mercury!

Spray pesticides on anything, and itâs no longer organic. Most of us detest the idea of using chemicals in a pristine environment, so why donât we have the same aversion when it comes to getting the flu shot? Did you know that the common flu shot contains Mercury (a known neurotoxin in the form thimerosal) and Formaldehyde (a preservative used for cadavers)? If you dumped those chemicals into your local water supply youâd get arrested. However, every year hundreds and thousands line up at local pharmacies to get it shot into their veins.

There are natural, alternative ways to boost your bodyâs innate immune system and protect yourself from the flu. You can start today if you haven't already!

BJ Palmer, the developer of Chiropractic, once asked, âhave you more faith in a knife or a spoonful of medicine than in the power that animates the living world?â
